We are a business in the meat industry that is situated in Celrà, a town in the province of Girona, 50 kilometres from the French border and 50 to 100 miles from the nearest port.

All of the animals that are processed at this facility are the outcome of nutritional and genetic research, as well as market needs. The meats are guaranteed to be as consistent and pure as possible.

As a firm that was founded and built with an export goal, we began doing business as a cutting factory in October 2011. This ensured that our work and people could comply with international requirements for cleanliness and hygiene.

Our quality control system, which incorporates a HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), is based on ISO rules.

Volume: 5,200 pigs/day, 5 days a week of production with capacity to increase up to 7,000 pigs/day.

We are also certified in traceability from the farms (live animals and food) to the end customer, with OCA CALITAX.

HOW WE OPERATE

1) We purchase live animals. 2. We examine the animals’ condition. 3. We plan logistics for transportation. 4. We outsource the entire slaughter process; we have a domestic facility and two foreign facilities. 5. We check the carcasses’ quality. 6. We oversee cutting (there are two cutting rooms). 7. We oversee the cold storage facilities (there are two).

CÀRNIQUES CELRÀ S.A. WILL START EXPORTING TO CHINA AND WILL BUILD FOUR WAREHOUSES WITH CAPACITY TO STORE UP TO 18,000 TONS OF FROZEN PORK

Between this year and the following, Càrniques Celrà S.L., will invest 18 million Euros (EUR) to expand the business, double its size, and add 50 new employment. Four refrigerated stores that can contain up to 18,000 tons of frozen goods will be the focus of the majority of the construction.

Recent export authorization for Girona-native beef to China and Mexico will increase exports to Asia. In actuality, it already transports up to fifteen containers by sea each day. According to Xavier Roca, CEO of Càrniques Celrà S.L., “Its culinary culture greatly appreciates the small and by products such as bones, ears, feet, and hands, which are sold in the market places.”

The meat industry’s muscle in the Girona region may be seen in Càrniques Celrà sl. The cutting company, which like the rest of the corporation specializes in pork, presently slaughters 5,000 animals daily. The facility takes up 13,217 square meters of space in the municipality’s industrial district; this space will double in size in a year when the extension, which is already taking shape alongside the existing facilities, goes into service.

Sixty percent of the new warehouse’s construction has been finished as of this writing, representing an investment of 18 million euros. Four sizable cold storage warehouses with a combined pallet capacity of 12,000 will be located inside, allowing for the storage of up to 18,000 tons of frozen goods.

In addition, a brand-new, 60-ton-per-day refrigeration facility with a freezing temperature of -40 degrees Celsius will be constructed just for boxed pork. A new packing area, where the 50 new employees engaged by the meat company from Girona will work, completes the project.
